Enrique Iglesias and his longtime partner Anna Kournikova have managed to keep their personal lives out from under the public microscope, but the duo couldn’t resist sharing with their fans the newest additions to their family. After welcoming two adorable twins into the world last month, the proud parents treated their followers to the first photos of them.
The “King of Latin Pop” and the former tennis superstar initially met on the set of Iglesias’s music video Escape in 2001, and in the following 16 years, have kept their relationship incredibly private. So private, in fact, that fans had no idea the two were even expecting until reports came out in December that they had just welcomed twins — a boy and a girl.
However, the new parents took to their respective Instagrams to share the first pictures of their twins with the world. Iglesias and Kournikova each posted a picture with one of the twins, both with the caption, “My Sunshine.” The photos collectively managed to garner over a million likes in just a day after being uploaded.
The Instagram pictures came as a welcome surprise to the couple’s fans, but the notoriously private duo still maintained a level of secrecy with their posts. TMZ previously reported that the twins’ names are Nicholas and Lucy, but the new parents did not identify which twin they were holding in their Instagram debuts.
Considering Iglesias and Kournikova have been so secretive about their relationship, it should come as no surprise that they would shield their pregnancy from the public eye. However, according to a source from ET, it wasn’t just the media that they kept their big news from.
“Their family and friends didn’t even know,” the insider revealed. “They had been preparing for a while to have kids and are over the moon. Privacy is their biggest thing, but Enrique wanted to share his love with the world. Both are very hands-on parents.”
It may be a while until we are treated to a glimpse of Iglesias and Kournikova’s twins again, but fans can rest assured knowing that the new parents are happy as can be with their little bundles of joy.
