Tim Allen has joined the cast of the upcoming “anti-PC docudrama” No Safe Spaces, championing the right to be an obnoxious conservative in Trump-era America.
Last summer, comedian Adam Carolla and radio host Dennis Prager announced an Indiegogo campaign for No Safe Spaces, a feature-length film decrying the “PC fervour” sweeping America’s universities. The duo planned to take their show on the road, bringing viewers on what they call “a road trip that will include trigger warnings, real social justice warriors, and maybe even some tailgating.” Apparently, this scintillating description delighted America’s repressed conservative underclass, because they managed to raise the $600,000 necessary to bring their movie to the big screen in the Fall of 2018.
Now Allen, perhaps best-known as the voice behind Buzz Lightyear, has been added to its star-studded cast. In a recent clip Carolla released to the New York Post, he appears alongside fellow comedians Andrew Schulz, Bryan Callen and Karith Foster in a panel discussion. Allen does not speak in the 45-second clip, which focuses on how millennials are killing the lazy “stereotype comedy” industry.
“Nothing kills comedy quite like people who are constantly offended,” Carolla told the New York Post in a recent interview. “It’s impossible to be funny if we’re not allowed to poke fun at each other and that’s what’s happening with a new generation of people who seem to be offended for a living.” And, dammit, killing comedy is his job!
No Safe Spaces isn’t the first time that Allen has warned America about the dangers of basic human decency (sorry, political correctness! It’s hard to keep up with all these new buzzwords). Last March, he took to the air on Jimmy Kimmel to compare today’s Hollywood leftism to Nazi Germany. No, really: “You get beat up if don’t believe what everybody believes. This is like ’30s Germany. I don’t know what happened.” Yeah, I’m not really sure what happened either.
And his frustration has only gotten more heated since ABC cancelled his sitcom, Last Man Standing, in the Fall of 2017. Allen said that he was “stunned and blindsided” by the cancellation, and blamed it on ABC’s political agenda. Apparently, the fact that it was produced by a separate studio 20th Century Fox Television, and was thus very expensive for ABC to license had nothing to do with it. “[T]here is nothing more dangerous, especially in this climate, than a funny, likable conservative character,” he said on ‘Norm Macdonald Live,’ last year, clearly underestimating the dangerous impact of a boorish, unlikeable conservative president.
Clearly aggrieved by the cancellation, Allen has teamed up with Carolla and Prager to expose the evil, nefarious PC agenda behind his own personal failures. As Buzz Lightyear might say, “You are a sad, strange little man and you have my pity.”
