Bitter Feminists Go After The Hot Cheerleaders, Here Are The First Victims

Feminists are all about women’s empowerment and standing up against societal norms. These same feminists might be the reason for removing “grid girls”. Formula One has decided to drop these “grid girls”. They are the female models that were used in promotional tasks and starting grids before and after races. The organization has stated that it will no longer continue this practice.

Sean Bratches is the managing director of commercial operations at Formula One. He said in a press release published on the Formula 1 website, “While the practice of employing grid girls has been a staple of Formula 1 Grands Prix for decades, we feel this custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern-day societal norms”. But people have a hunch that it’s feminists that might be going after these hot cheerleaders.

According to the Evening Standard, there are fans and broadcasters that have been pressuring groups to stop using grid girls and models during various sporting events. They see this practice as being completely demeaning and sexist. But Formula One isn’t the first to take this step. Just a few days before the decision to remove the Formula One girls, the Professional Darts Corporation did something similar.

They announced that they will no longer be paying women that usually wear nothing but bikinis to escort male players on stage. According to The Standard, “The PDC faces pressure from fans and broadcasters to stop the practice in a row over sexism. Campaigners called on other sports including motor racing, boxing, and cycling to follow the PDC in deciding to no longer use walk-on girls.”

But not all women are agreeing with feminists, especially those who were directly affected by the decision. They are fighting back, directly confronting these fans and broadcasters. Kelly Brook, a Formula One flag girl, noted that these feminists were infantilizing women. According to The Standard, she noted that by doing this, they are taking away these women’s “right to make decisions”.

Brook also noted that in no way was this job demeaning to women. She wrote an opinion piece for The Sun, writing “It’s probably not even occurred to these PC campaigners that the women might actually like the work. These walk-on girls are intelligent women, a lot are probably trying to pay for their college or university education”.

Lauren-Jade Pope is a Grid girl, and she decided to write her opinion on Twitter. She wrote, “Because of these feminists, they have cost us our jobs! I have been a grid girl for 8 years and I have never felt uncomfortable! I love my job, if I didn’t I wouldn’t do it! No one forces us to do this! This is our choice!”.
