If Your Hands Are Ever Zip-Tied Together, Here’s The Easy Way To Escape In Seconds

These days, we are no stranger to hearing countless stories splattered all over the news ranging in absurdities in regards to kidnapping, abuse and other horrific crimes. Although no one ever wants to believe something so tragic could happen to them or someone in their life, it is always best to stay safe. The harsh reality is that we must be prepared for anything, including how to break-free from zip ties, one of the most commonly used tools to confine victims during illegal activity. Now, a Youtube channel called ITS Tactical is ready to teach you how to get out of being zip-tied.

Zip ties are normally used around the house and in many workplaces to keep items strapped together, primarily electrical cables or wires. They are known for being extremely resistant, and pretty much impossible to break open without scissors or other sharp devices. One can only conclude that the reason zip ties are often used for restrictive purposes in shady scenarios is likely due to the fact that they are extremely inexpensive, easily accessible through the internet and at hardware stores and they are extraordinarily simple to use.

These plastic objects are not made to act as handcuffs, which is why it is important to understand the best way to weaken the tie in order to ensure a successful break. Luckily, many experienced professionals have taken it upon themselves to share their knowledge through videos, sharing uncomplicated techniques that we can all learn from as well as teach our family and friends, should we find ourselves in a dangerous situation. These tips could be particularly useful for young people, and would enable them, and their loved ones, to be less worried when they are walking around alone and unsupervised.

According to ITS Tactical, the first step is to make sure the locking bar, used to secure the zip tie, is placed between your two tied-up hands. This might take some brief adjusting, depending on the tightness of the cable. Once you have done this, you should tighten it, perhaps by grasping the cord with your teeth and pulling as hard as possible. This will make the next step easier as it creates more tension near the locking bar, which should eventually break.

Once you have it well-fastened, put your arms up over your head and, with one swift motion, bring them down towards your body with your shoulders and elbows swinging back as far as you can behind you, in hopes of snapping the zip tie. You may need to do this a couple of times to loosen the plastic, but it should burst open when you use your complete strength.

However, this maneuver, according to Mati Milstein of the Daily Mail, doesn’t come without a little physical pain. “Inevitably, this technique will leave your wrists scraped and chafed.” he says. “But this is a small price to pray for freedom.”

While thinking of having to go through difficult moments such as these is off-putting to many, this information could be potentially life-saving for you or someone you know. By learning how to properly flee from hazardous confinements, you are not only protecting yourself, but learning important self-defense tactics that could possibly be applied during many other stressful circumstances.
