Miguel Ferrer’s Cousin George Clooney Shared An Emotional Tribute After Hearing News Of His Death

Soon after Miguel Ferrer lost his battle to cancer, many of his friends and family paid him tribute via public statements. The actor’s cousin George Clooney can now be added to the list of people who had a few heartbreaking and moving things to say about Ferrer. 

In his touching tribute, Clooney remembers the veteran actor quite fondly, and believes himself to be fortunate to have called him a family member. He also brought attention to the fact that the grief came at a tumultuous time in the country, and around the world.

 

“Today history will mark giant changes in our world, and lost to most will be that on the same day Miguel Ferrer lost his battle to throat cancer. But not lost to his family,” Clooney said. “Miguel made the world brighter and funnier and his passing is felt so deeply in our family that events of the day, (monumental  events), pale in comparison. We love you Miguel. We always will.”

Miguel was a talented actor who was known for his roles in RoboCop, NCIS: Los Angeles and Twin Peaks. His family reported that he peacefully passed on at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife Loris, his sons Lukas and Rafi and his brothers and sisters, according to CBS.

Clooney was one of the many colleagues, friends and family who publicly mourned the loss. NCIS: LA showrunner R. Scott Gimmel also released a heartfelt statement after Ferrer’s passing, saying: “Today, NCIS: Los Angeles lost a beloved family member. Miguel was a man of tremendous talent who had a powerful dramatic presence on screen, a wicked sense of humor, and a huge heart. Our thoughts go out to his wife Lori, his sons, and his entire family. He will be greatly missed.” 

Among the Twin Peaks actors who expressed their condolences were Kyle MacLachlan and Mark Frost. Kyle MacLachlan wrote on twitter: “Awful news…Miguel Ferrer is gone. Agent Rosenfield, I love you. RIP. -Coop.” Frost, who also worked with Ferrer on Hill Street Blues and On the Air, tweeted: “A death in the family: just learned we lost Miguel Ferrer today. Join me pls in sending sympathy to his wife and family.”

 

Ferrer was born in Santa Monica, California to Jose Ferrer and Rosemary Clooney. He began his acting career in the 80s, and his acting credits include several memorable voice acting roles like the antagonistic leader Shan Yu in Mulan and Big Boss in Rio 2.
