With more than seven billion people on this planet, it is hard enough to find someone that you genuinely like, let alone find someone that you can be a true power couple with. But nonetheless, despite the inherent difficulties of finding ‘the one,’ Chrissy Teigen and John Legend seem to have risen to the top of the power couple rankings. Whether it be because of Chrissy’s unfiltered humour or because of their adorable daughter, the two have been in the spotlight for some time now. Recently, the model and social media personality shared a photo of her newborn son, along with a name.
But let’s backtrack a little and take a look at the story of Chrissy and John. According to an article from Time, Chrissy and John met in 2007 on the set of John’s music video for ‘Stereo.’ In an interview with Wendy Williams in 2014, Chrissy didn’t hold back when she shared how they first met: ‘We did the music video, we were together for like 12 hours. We spent the entire day together, me in my underwear and him in a full suit, and I went to go say goodbye to him, to his hotel and we didn’t even say goodbye that night.’
The pair dated for four years before the 39-year-old singer proposed to his girlfriend in the Maldives back in 2011. But his proposal didn’t go as smoothly as he planned according to a 2003 appearance on Oprah’s Next Chapter: ‘[The ring] was in my carry-on bag going through airport security, and security wanted to look through my bag and they wanted to look in that particular box,’ John told Oprah. ‘And Chrissy was standing right next to me and I was, like, oh, my God. I’ve hidden it so well this whole time. Now as we’re just about to get to the Maldives she’s going to find out I have a ring in this box and it’s going to ruin the surprise and I’ll have to get on my knees in the airport.’ Luckily, security didn’t end up looking inside the box and John was able to propose in a more romantic setting.
The couple’s daughter, Luna Simone Stephens, was born in April 2016 and now Chrissy has announced the arrival of their second child, Miles Theodore Stephens, almost two years later on Twitter. The mother of two also posted a picture of her newborn son to Instagram earlier this week with his tiny hands cradling his face and the caption, ‘Hello, world! This is Miles Theodore Stephens – We are drowning in his little peeps and nuzzles. Our household feels overwhelmed with love. Thank you for all your well wishes!’
Chrissy’s post has been liked nearly four million times and received thousands of comments from Instagram users sending their good wishes. J.Lo commented, ‘He’s so cute and I love his name too,’ while another Instagram user @Calatrashas wrote, ‘Welcome to the world Miles. I’ve got good news for you about who your parents are.’
It was in an article in People where the 39-year-old father of two spoke about the adjustments that his daughter, Luna Simone, now has to deal with. ‘[Luna’s] used to having us to herself. I think she’s just starting to realize though that he might be competition. So in some ways, it’s good because she’s stepping her game up. She’s being more loving, she’s singing louder, and dancing harder. She’s making sure we don’t stop paying attention to her.’
John continued, ‘I think it’s kind of a special privilege for me to raise a young man. I want to try to give him the best advice and be a good man. Particularly right now, a lot of us are trying to figure out how to raise good men in this era when a lot of bad behaviour by men is being exposed. We want to make sure we’re raising young men that grow up to be kind and empathetic and emotionally intelligent, and also good leaders and successful in everything they do.’
