Presidents, they’re just like us! President Donald Trump made an embarrassing admission that he was too busy with work to get his wife, First Lady Melania, anything special for her 48th birthday.
When asked during an interview with Fox and Friends what he got the first lady on her special day, he responded “Well I better not get into that because I may get into trouble. Maybe I didn’t get her so much.” Trump reasoned that he’s a very busy man, running a country and all. However, he did manage to get his wife of 13 years “a beautiful card and some beautiful flowers,” he said.
Wanting to further verify the appreciation of his wife’s birthday, Trump also noted he decided to have the interview with Fox and Friends in honour of it. “I picked a very, very special day because it’s Melania’s birthday,” Trump said. “So happy birthday to Melania.”
Her birthday aside, Trump also congratulated his wife for her work in planning French President Emmanuel Macron’s first state visit, including an extravagant dinner at the White House. “She did a fantastic job with France,” he added in the interview.

The Huffington Post suggested he must have been too busy tweeting at Kanye West to get Melania a birthday gift. Some Twitter users claimed Trump’s “gifts” were the equivalent of getting his wife cleaning products.
With yet another recent video making rounds online of Trump struggling to get Melania to hold his hand, the tension between the two is speculated. This all comes amid ongoing reports about Trump’s alleged extramarital affairs.
Despite all of the drama in the media, the first lady’s office told ABC News she had planned to spend her birthday in the company of family. Flowers and cards, isn’t it the thought that counts? Maybe that line doesn’t work when it comes to one of the richest and most powerful men in America.
