Gay Teen Is Asked To Join A Girls-Only Sleepover, Mom Has The Perfect Response

Sleepovers are still one of the only ways that you and your friends can get together for trash talking and junk food. (Try to soak it in while you can because this stuff ain’t happenin’ when you get older.)

While it can be tricky to secretly discuss things with your parents still home, the hardest part of sleepovers was trying to sell your parents on the guest list. I don’t know what parents are like nowadays but back in the 90s, there was no way on God’s green Earth that my mother was ever going to let me have a boy sleepover at my house. It didn’t matter how many girls were invited to cancel him out. It wasn’t happening and you were risking your life just by asking.

But, things may have been different (ha, no) if the boy himself had asked my mother. That’s exactly what happened in the case of Mason Barclay who texted his friend’s mother, Mrs. Shelton. He reassured her that his sexual orientation as being “a very homosexual male” would prevent him from being a bother at the all-girls sleepover. He then thanked her for her time and told her to have a good night.

Mrs. Shelton had a response just as epic as Barclay’s request.

Mrs. Shelton then got back to him and expressed her lingering concerns.

Barclay laughed and shared the whole thing on his Twitter page, where the tweet has garnered over 1,000 likes and over 400 retweets. The comment section attracted several people wondering just how attractive Mr. Shelton must be and those applauding the mother for her response.

After their incredible encounter, I’m unsure if Barclay was invited to a said sleepover. To be honest, it really didn’t sound like she had a problem with it. I certainly hope that Barclay got to attend after that request. He really deserves it.
