A representative for Billy Joel confirmed to People that he and his wife, Alexis Roderick, welcomed their second daughter on October 22 at the New York University Hospital. They have decided to name the child Remy Anne.
According to the representative, Remy Anne was born at 7:50 p.m. and weighed seven pounds. They also told People that “Alexis and Remy are doing well, and everyone is thrilled.”
Roderick and Joel have been married for just over two years but have been dating one another since 2009. They wed in July 2015 and have another daughter, Della Rose, who was born in August 2015. Joel also has another daughter from his marriage to Christie Brinkley, to whom he was married from 1985 to 1994. Their daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, is a musician like her father and released an EP in 2006.
People also reported that Joel and his oldest daughter were in the delivery room with Alexa to support her during birth.
News of the expected pregnancy was first announced in an October 14 interview Joel had with Belfast Telegraph. When he was being interviewed, he introduced his wife to the interviewer and told them, “We are due next month.”
During his interview with Belfast Telegraph, Joel, 68, said he doesn’t lose much sleep over Della Rose. “This one is pretty good. She sleeps through the night. I hope the next one will,” he said.
Roderick jumped in after being asked about Della Rose’s hobbies and said she isn’t really into watching television too much, either. “She is out all day long. So, she’s not really watching a lot of TVs. I’m sure she will soon enough,” she said.
The famed musician has been in the industry for decades now. His best-known track, “Piano Man”, was released in 1973 and was his first hit single that now ends almost every one of his concerts.
