Richard Hess is a 31-year-old butcher from Port St. Lucie, Florida, and he was charged with domestic battery after he punched the left side of his girlfriend’s face over some cookies. He was arrested last Thursday night after he allegedly punched his girlfriend because she ate the last of his favourite chocolate chip cookies.
The 6 foot 4 men became agitated because he claimed that his girlfriend wasn’t taking him ‘seriously.’
Police were called to his home after the 34-year-old nurse, who was Richard’s live-in girlfriend at the time, was attacked and beaten by Richard.
According to the police report, Richard became angry when he confronted the unidentified victim about the missing cookie.
She later tried to de-escalate the situation by joking about ‘reviewing the surveillance cameras to see who ate the cookie.’
Richard got angered by her comments and said that she was ‘blowing him off.’ When he confronted his girlfriend of over three years, Richard said that she wasn’t taking him ‘seriously’ over the matter of the missing cookie.
It has been alleged that Richard then followed his girlfriend to the shower where he ripped off the shower curtains as she was bathing and then punched her in the left side of her face.
The 34-year-old woman later told police that she did not want to argue with Richard over ‘something so petty’ and she said that she even offered to buy more cookies as a form of apology.
Richard was later booked into the St Lucie County Jail and was charged with a misdemeanour charge of domestic battery.
He was then later released and subsequently placed under house arrest with GPS monitoring. A judge has placed a restraining order on Richard to protect his girlfriend.
Richard Hess is due back in court on December 28 and his records show that he was previously arrested on charges of battery, fleeing and eluding, child abuse and driving with a suspended license.
