Julia Louis-Dreyfus Shares Photo Of Herself At Her Chemo Treatment

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the actress best known for her roles in Seinfeld and now in HBO’s Veep, announced this past September that she has breast cancer. She’s been keeping her fans updated ever since her diagnosis and uploaded a photo of herself on October 20 to let everyone know that she had completed her second round of chemotherapy.

The photo (and its caption) was inspired by a video posted by her Veep co-stars Tony Hale and Timothy Simons. The duo uploaded a video where Hale played the role of Louis-Dreyfus and Simons played the role of cancer. Every so often the role of cancer would get knocked in the groin or in the eye to symbolize her defeat. They then proceeded to dub Katy Perry’s “Roar” and held up signs matching the lyrics which read, “You’ve got the eye of a tiger,” “You are a champion,” and “We’re going to hear you roar.”

The photo posted by Louis-Dreyfus featured a caption that read, “Chemo #2: finito. We are NOT f—-ing around here. ‘I’ve got the eye of the tiger. The Fighter dancing through the fire cuz I am a champion and you’re going to hear me ROAR.’ Thanks to @mrtonyhale& @timothycsimons & @katyperry for their hilarious and loving inspiration.”

To date, the photo has over 100,000 likes.

Comments came pouring in from fans on Twitter, where the video was also uploaded, that commented on the humour of the video, how lucky Louis-Dreyfus is to have such supportive friends, and many expressed the fact that the video made them cry.

Plenty of comments flooded her Instagram post as well, many of which wished her a speedy recovery and offered their prayers and thoughts during her treatments.

Louis-Dreyfus has won several awards thanks to her talent in Veep since 2012. She won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series this year and took home the same two awards in 2015 and 2016. She was nominated for both awards in 2012 and has taken at least one home since then.
