Meghan Markle’s brother and father have not been invited to her royal wedding, according to The Sun. Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr. (who shares the same father with Meghan) was reportedly not given an invitation. It was in the Daily Star where an unnamed source described why the half-brother didn’t receive an invite. ‘I think it is because he just can’t seem to keep his mouth shut. If he would quit talking to the media, Meghan would probably be more into the idea of inviting him.’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to get married on May 19 of this year at the St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England, United Kingdom. This venue is said to be a favorite of the Queen’s and many are anticipating their marriage, which is set to occur after Kate Middleton gives birth to her third child.
According to The Sun, Meghan’s brother, a 50-year-old window fitter, was arrested earlier this year after a drunken fight with his girlfriend led to him brandishing a handgun. In an interview with The Sun, Thomas Markle Jr. described the incident: ‘Then I did the stupidest thing I could ever have done and went and got my handgun. But it was unloaded — there were no bullets in it. Darlene saw me with the gun, got scared and ran to the bathroom and wouldn’t come out. I absolutely did not put the gun to her head. She got freaked out even more than she had before.’
He has since issued an apology to his sister and asked for her forgiveness. ‘Everyone makes mistakes. This time I made a bad one. But we all do. If I may say so, Prince Harry has made a few in his time and learned from them. I just need the same chance. I want to tell Meghan I am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart.’ As reported by The Sun, Thomas Markle Jr, his sister Samantha as well as Meghan all grew up together in California but allegedly they grew apart after Meghan started working on the US legal drama Suits.
Because of this row, it has been reported by news.com.au, that Prince William will instead walk his sister-in-law down the aisle. Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., also did not receive an invite to the royal wedding. A source told The Star: ‘She’s also worried about how he would handle it as he’s become even more of a recluse. Not to mention the fact that there has been some bad blood between Harry and Thomas after Harry made comments about her finally getting the family she never had.’
However, Meghan’s half-sister Samantha and her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr. have come in defense of their father and stated that they had a loving and caring family. Samantha tweeted: ‘she has a large family. She always did. Our dad is amazing and completely self-sacrificing. We made it so that she had two houses. How fun it was!’
While Meghan would prefer her mother give her away on the big day, some of the Royals aren’t so keen on that idea. According to the unnamed source who spoke to The Sun, they said: ‘some of the royals aren’t happy about the idea, so they suggested that William do it.’ However, Kensington Palace has declined to comment on who will be attending the wedding.
