Body Language Experts Analyze Chip And Joanna Gaines’ Relationship

Chip and Joanna Gaines’ are the stars of the show ‘Fixer Upper’ and they have a reputation for taking rundown homes and transforming them into beautiful estates. Since 2018 they have been married for more than 15 years and the couple has shown a steady, strong and loving relationship despite the turbulent times.

Now, body language experts are supporting that notion by analyzing the couple.

Just recently, the couple is announcing that they are expecting their fifth child.

Body language can sometimes do more ‘telling’ than actual words do. And body language experts have analyzed the physical aspect of Chip and Joanna’s public interactions. (Of which there are many since the show, Fixer Upper, first aired in 2013.)

Where we face and where our feet are pointed to can sometimes be a direct correlation to where our attention is pointed at. And in multiple instances, you can find Joanna facing and leaning towards Chip.

During an interview with GoodHousekeeping.com, Patti Wood, who is a body language expert and author of SNAP: Making the Most of First Impressions, Body Language, and Charisma, said: ‘this subconscious act shows [that] she thinks Chip is more important —and attractive — than the camera, this symbolizes the unity of their relationship. She leans on him when she needs it and vice versa.’

Kissing is an intimate act but where your partner kisses you can also say a lot. Chip is always seen showing affection to Joanna, but a kiss on the top of the head and a kiss on the cheek can have varying meanings.

Patti Wood said: ‘kissing on the cheek is more intimate and is typically a prelude to deeper affection,’ and that a kiss on the top of the head could be construed as a ‘power move’ since that’s generally the kiss you see fathers giving their daughters.

Holding hands also says a lot, but rather than holding hands, Joanna usually chooses to link arms with Chip or to hold his forearm.

The body language expert said: ‘it’s clear that this is a desire to be connected and viewed as a unit. While this can be a type of ownership, there’s also a sweetness to this gesture.’

Blanca Cobb who is a body language expert and author of Methods of the Masters said: ‘linking or holding arms brings you physically closer together, when you’re feeling loving towards your partner, you’ll find ways to get closer.’

But Joanna will hold onto Chip differently depending on the situation. At times she will hold onto Chip with both of her hands and this, Patti Wood says, ‘is her way to reel him back in. It’s a grounding move.’

She continues: ‘when Joanna becomes the center of attention, it’s clear that Chip doesn’t mind. He always responds to her actions with a smile, indicating that he’s fine — and proud — of his wife’s behavior.’

But through it all, the celebrity couple seem to be happy and loving towards one another. And now with a fifth child on the way, they seem to be more than prepared for the monumental task.

Patti concluded with: ‘their body language overlaps. Instead of two separate silhouettes, they create a united front.’
