Prince Harry And Meghan Markle To Marry On May 19 2018

Amidst all the buzz and chatter about the newest couple out of the Royal Family, the pair has locked in on a wedding date. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, following their engagement in November, have confirmed that their wedding will take place on May 19, 2018, with the world now waiting in anticipation for the two to tie the knot.

Kensington Palace released a statement this week, confirming the big date and its location, one that is different than that of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The wedding will take place at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, the common place of worship for the royal residence. The chapel housed the weddings of Queen Victoria’s children, among many other historical ceremonies, and burials.

This particular chosen date falls on a Saturday, breaking the usual royal tradition of having the wedding take place on a weekday. Most notably, the Queen who wed on a Thursday, and the Duke of Cambridge who wed on a Friday. There will be no bank holiday given, but falling on a weekend, it will give people the opportunity to head to Windsor for the celebrations. Additionally, the big ceremony falls on the same day as the English Premier League’s FA Cup Final, which Prince William is the FA President, and attends annually. An FA spokesman released a statement saying: “Saturday 19 May promises to be a wonderful day with such a special royal occasion being followed by English football’s showpiece event, the Emirates FA Cup Final.”

The wedding, which will be entirely paid for by the Royal Family, will undoubtedly have an enchanting service, reception, and decor. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be welcoming their newest child just a month earlier, in what will be a special and celebratory time for the family as a whole. The Royal Family is set to welcome Meghan Markle into the historic bloodline, where she will be baptized into the Church of England and confirmed prior to the wedding.

Having only met a year ago in the summer of 2016, the couple overcame long-distance circumstances and made it work effectively. Set up on a blind date by a mutual friend, the couple hit it off on their first night out for drinks, which was followed by a wonderful camping trip in Botswana, where they had some much appreciated time to themselves. It was then in November of this year that Harry proposed on a cozy night, to a very anxious Markle who could barely wait to answer. She said “It was so sweet and natural and very romantic” and as a matter of fact, she could hardly let him finish, cutting it short with “Can I say yes now?”

The big day is now set, with media and fans alike waiting to witness the charming new couple become official before the monarch family of the United Kingdom. It will be a storied event that will be captured worldwide, one that Princess Diana herself, the late princess and mother of Harry, would have been “over the moon” about.
