Depression is something that is now rampant in our society. Maybe it’s proportional to the growth of technology or maybe it’s because of some external factors that we are not aware of, but mental health is something that we need to keep an eye on.

As important as it is to make money and earn a living, it is equally important to sit back, relax and just wind down.

An unnamed 16-year-old girl who is battling severe depression got a surprise when she entered a salon one day.

Kayley Olsson is a student hairdresser at a salon in Waterloo, Iowa. One day, a depressed teen walked into the salon and asked to have her hair shaved off.

The 16-year-old girl was battling severe depression and felt so worthless that she couldn’t even brush her hair.

She had a school photo coming up and instead of trying to fix or comb her hair, she just wanted everything to be shaved off. She said that she only had the energy and the willpower to get out of bed.

But Kayley denied her request. She saw the pain and suffering in the teen’s eyes and instead of shaving her head, she spent over 13 hours repairing and reversing the damage instead.

Kayley, who is also a cosmetology student, shared this touching moment on Facebook: ‘[The teen] got to the point where she felt so down and so worthless she couldn’t even brush her hair, she told me she only got up to use the restroom.’

In her post, she continued on by saying: ‘she starts back at school in a few weeks but she has her school pictures today. When she walked in she told us ‘just cut it all off I can’t deal with the pain of combing it out,’ she called herself worthless for it.’

Kayley said that she spent 8 hours on the first day fixing her hair and then another 5 hours to complete the task. She said: ‘we finally made this beautiful girl smile and feel like she is worth something.’
