Cops Release Hotel Video Of Chicago Teen Kenneka Jenkins Before She Died in Freezer

Recent surveillance video has been released by police that could shed light on the mysterious death of a young Chicago woman whose body was found in a hotel freezer last week. According to CNN, the case sparked accusations of foul play on social media. According to Police in Rosemont, Kenneka Jenkins, 19, was last seen early Saturday, September 9th.

The 19-year-old was at a party at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel. According to CNN, her family reported the teen missing later that day, and her body was found in the walk-in freezer at the hotel shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday. Results of an autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office are still pending.

The Rosemont Public Safety Department has released a surveillance video from inside the Crowne Plaza. The footage shows Jenkins struggling to even take a few steps and basically staggering through the hotel’s hallways early Saturday. She’s first seen walking through the hotel with a number of unidentified people around 1:13 a.m according to CNN, appearing to be steady.

But then when she is seen, in the footage, leaving an elevator at 3:25 a.m, she’s alone and clearly not in the right state of mind. She briefly leans on the walls for support from time to time before she heads down the hallway. Surveillance cameras next catch Jenkins in the hallways at 3:27 a.m and 3:29 a.m, also alone. The 19-year-old nearly falls over but is able to catch herself.

The last clip is of Jenkins stumbling through the hotel kitchen, which appears to be completely empty. At 3:32 a.m she walks away from the camera, which is the last time she was seen before her body was found in the hotel’s walk-in freezer.

Police were able to get a hold of 36 hours of surveillance video, according to CNN, and they have released all the clips where Jenkins can be seen. There is no footage of Jenkins walking into the freezer.

Andrew Holmes, a community activist, told CNN affiliate WBBM, that Jenkins looked as though she was lost and tried several doors in order to get to the hotel lobby before walking into the freezer. The investigation is continuing on what happened to her and who exactly was involved in all this.
