The Kardashian family tree just keeps growing. In what’s been another year of headlines and maternity announcements for the reality TV family clan, comes the arrival of its newest member to be introduced to the world.
Born on January 15th at 12:47 am, a healthy baby girl was welcomed to the arms of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces, the third of the Kardashian-West children is nowhere. The social media mogul took to her official website to make the big announcement, titled “She’s Here!”. Kim went on to say “Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” confirming the news to all the die-hard fans who were awaiting the imminent announcement. The birth comes after a lengthy process in which the star couple found a surrogate to carry their next child.
“We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give,” Kim said in her released statement. Although the surrogate’s identity has yet to be determined, she has been celebrated and spoken about. Reports revealed that she is a “married African-American college graduate with two children of her own” as well as a “Democrat in great physical shape.” In attendance at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center were her sisters Kourtney, Khloe, and mother Kris. Although the surrogate got some contact with the child after birth, Kim was the first person to enjoy a bonding moment and hold her new child.
The route of surrogacy comes after suffering complications with her first two pregnancies. She experienced pre-eclampsia in her first pregnancy with North, suffering from high blood pressure. Along with that, she also had placenta accreta, which is when the placenta is attached too deeply to the uterine wall, which happened in both of her pregnancies. To add to that scare, she was misinformed of a miscarriage the first time around, as well as warned about possibly bleeding to death if she were to carry another child herself.
Among those celebrating the birth of the newest Kardashian-West child, are none other than Jay-Z and Beyonce? “Aunty Bey and Uncle Jay” are reported to have splurged, gifting the newborn with a luxurious Lorraine Schwartz-designed bracelet with the number three engraved. This certainly brings peace to their friendship after a public fallout between the couple. Adding to the celebrations was mother Kris Jenner, who had a pink Hansen’s cake delivered to the couple from the family’s favourite bakery. Kim took to Instagram to thank the new grandmother of her children, with a photo of the impressive, basket-weave cake which was fitting for their new baby girl.
Inevitably, there is already speculation and guesses as to what the name of the child could be. Already breaking down the traditional wall of names, the couple named their first daughter North, who is now 4 years old, and their son, Saint, who is now 2. The name choices have had people buzzing worldwide, with many anticipating the announcement of the latest. One thing that’s for certain is they won’t follow the Kardashian tradition of a name beginning with a K. “If we name our kid with a K name which is kind of what we want, mainly just because Kanye and I are K’s, then they’re going to call us the KKK.” There’s no telling what direction they will go in picking the newest name, but there is speculation that they may honour Kanye’s late mother, Donda.
Congratulations are due to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, welcoming another child into a family of promising potential. After a successful surrogacy, the couple can now rest easy and adapt to life with the newest sibling for their children, which is exactly what they wanted.
