CBS Executive Fired For Making Unsympathetic Vegas Massacre Post

A CBS legal executive was let go from the company after posting what many are calling insensitive and ignorant statements regarding the recent tragic shooting events in Las Vegas. Hayley Geftman-Gold posted about the topic of violence on her Facebook account in the comment section, but it was her remarks about Las Vegas that caught people by surprise.

Hayley Geftman-Gold stated, “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans are Republican gun-toters.” This comment had people feeling hurt, and has triggered some angry responses on her social media accounts. German-Gold is reported to have even been harassed now by online users.

In the aftermath of the horrific mass shooting committed by Stephen Paddock this week in Las Vegas that left 58 people dead and more than 500 people injured, a lot of people are left scratching their heads as to why this was allowed to happen. In German-Gold’s case, her comments and the reaction they garnered led her to notify the police, where she had to report people harassing her and even issuing threats.

As a result of German-Gold’s comments, CBS recently issued this statement: “This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families.”

The event is now the biggest mass-shooting event in American history and has sparked some debate between Republicans and Democrats about certain gun laws within the country, specifically those about making it easier to purchase silencers and bump stocks that allow semi-automatic weapons to turn into automatic weapons.

The severity of the attack has left numerous people online taking their viewpoints on why the event happened and the issue of gun control to online discussion boards.

German-Gold had worked for CBS since 2016 and graduated from Columbia in 2000. She had been involved in the organization of a block party last year during election night in support of Hillary Clinton.
