Darryl Strawberry On Sex Addiction: I Partied Between Innings

Although he may be considered one of America’s greatest baseball players of all time, there is no doubt that Darryl Strawberry has also had his fair share of struggles during his career behind the bat. Now, Darryl Strawberry admits he had a sex addiction.

The former MLB champion who once helped lead the New York Mets to their 1986 championship, and pursued a whopping 17-year career in baseball, quickly becoming one of the most feared batters and heavy hitters the game has seen in years. Now, Strawberry has recently taken to the Dr. Oz show to talk about some of his struggles with addiction, specifically with drugs and intercourse.

The MLB star opened up to Dr. Oz in a heartwarming interview, confessing that his addiction to sex was so great, that he would sometimes pursue women between innings at the peak of his baseball career. Strawberry even said, “I would go between innings, and stuff like that and run back and have a little party going on,” and even admitted to having his fellow coaches and players covering for him while he pursued his women.

Strawberry’s various addictions have led him to several encounters with the law, including an arrest for soliciting sex from a policewoman posing as a prostitute, and for possessing small amounts of cocaine. Strawberry was also charged with driving while on painkillers and ended up crashing his car while on route to visit his probation officer.

He was charged with two years house arrest and community service. Strawberry was also charged with violating non-drug rules at the probation center he was staying at and was ordered to serve a prison sentence as well.

He was also charged with filing a false police report, but his charges were later dropped to a mild misdemeanor. Now, a little older and a little wiser, Strawberry has sought extensive treatment for his addictions, noting that his behaviors weren’t good for anyone. He even desires to reach out to Lamar Odom for his addictions with drug abuse.

Now Strawberry is an ordained minister and author, Darryl Strawberry has turned his life around in his retired years, hoping that talking about his past addictions on the Dr. Oz show can help anyone struggling with the same things.
