Mirella Ponce was released from jail on November 1st but by then she had become an internet sensation for her ‘attractive’ mugshot. As reported by the Fresno Bee, Mirella said: ‘I was like, ‘whoa.’ I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s funny how things could just happen to anyone.’ The 20-year-old mother of one became viral after her mugshot began being shared on social media. The 20-year-old Fresno woman was arrested on October 23 during a traffic stop. At the time of writing, she is now pursuing a career in modelling according to the Fresno Bee.
The mother of one was arrested during a traffic stop for having a loaded gun while her one-year-old daughter was in the car with her. She spent eight days in prison before pleading guilty to a felony charge of being a gang member in possession of a gun.
She is set to be sentenced in December but during her 15 hours in the jail’s booking facility, her image had already received thousands of likes and shares online. On Fresno Police’s Facebook page, many members of social media commented on Mirella’s beauty. Things such as her colourful tattoos, her sculpted eyebrows or her fierce look were only but a few factors that her admirers noticed. Her picture has since been liked more than 2 million times.
While many commented about her good looks and some even remarked on paying her bail, many others were quick to lambaste her for having a loaded weapon while she was with her child. But since her release, she has hopes of pursuing a career in modelling. Her attorney, Martin Taleisnik with the Sawl Law Group, has said that it is not fair to ‘pigeonhole’ her.
It was in an article in the Fresno Bee where Mirella revealed that strangers have approached her in public and people from all over the world, from as far as Europe, have contacted her via Facebook and Snapchat. As reported by the Fresno Bee, the mother of one has since expressed remorse for her crime and hopes to be known as more than just a ‘hot felon.’
In an interview with the Fresno Bee, she said: ‘People shouldn’t judge anybody they don’t know. They just know the girl with the gun with her daughter in the car from the mugshot. They don’t know the family member, the good mama, the sweet person, the funny, goofy, silly girl. Everybody just knows that bad image of me.’
And it seems like she is shedding that label after a local photographer in Fresno by the name of Desiree Genera posted several pictures of Mirella on both her Instagram and Facebook. She has since modelled for a tattoo magazine called Inked Magazine.
