Casey Anthony’s Mom Thinks Her Daughter Is ‘Mentally Ill’

Casey Anthony’s parents, George and Cindy Anthony are threatening to sue Casey if she sells her story or if rumours of a reality show with her and O.J. Simpson ever come to light.

In an interview with Chris Hansen, George and Cindy spoke of their relationship with Casey and how they would seek legal action should she earn money from her story. The question was asked during their interview, to which Cindy replied that if it ever came to that, she would seek legal action against Casey.

The news stems from Casey’s newfound interest in O.J. Simpson’s trial. Currently, Casey remains mostly hidden from the public and is living with Patrick McKenna in South Florida. McKenna was the lead investigator on her defence team and served the same role for O.J. during his trial. Casey said that she can “empathize” with O.J.’s case.

Her parents haven’t spoken to her since she was acquitted of allegedly murdering her two-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony, in 2011. Jurors found Casey guilty of lying to police officers and providing them with false information though, after a ten-hour deliberation in court, they acquitted her of first-degree murder after Caylee’s remains were found in the woods in 2008.

Since then, Cindy and George have had limited contact with Casey, who said in an interview with Associated Press, “I don’t give a s— about what anyone thinks about me, I never will. I’m okay with myself. I sleep pretty good at night.”

She also claims she remains unsure of the details surrounding her daughter’s death. “Everyone has their theories, I don’t know. As I stand here today I can’t tell you one way or another. The last time I saw my daughter I believed she was alive and was going to be okay, and that’s what was told to me.”

While being interviewed, Cindy and George had messages for Casey. George told the cameras, “Stay away. Stay away from me. If she wants a relationship again with her mom, she’s got a lot of explaining to do, but I don’t want to hear it anymore. I don’t want to see her.”

Cindy, on the other hand, said, “Casey, be true to yourself, start being honest with yourself, and own everything. Quit putting blame on everybody else.” She also added that she believes Casey to be “mentally ill.”
