27-Year-Old Victim Of Las Vegas Shooting Wakes Up From Coma

Tina Frost, a 27-year-old public accountant was shot in the head after a gunman opened fire at a music festival in Las Vegas a few weeks back. It has been reported that the woman has now been woken up from her coma.

She, along with many others, was attending Route 91 Harvest festival with her boyfriend and friends when 64-year-old Stephen Paddock fired on concertgoers from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, according to Business Insider.

Frost’s mother, Mary Watson Moreland, posted on a GoFundMe page that her vitals are stable but her right eye had to be removed after the bullet became lodged after piercing the frontal lobes of her brain.

According to ABC, a family spokesperson wrote on the GoFundMe page that Tina had taken three steps to a chair and three steps back to bed with the help of nurses. She also breathed on her own for six hours.

The spokesperson wrote, “She opens her left eye just a little and looks all around the room at us, taps her feet whenever music is playing, continues to squeeze our hands…”

They added that Tina is even able to give her boyfriend, Austin, a thumbs up when asked questions. The GoFundMe post adds, “She’s obviously anxious to get her wobble back on. She also breathed on her own for a full 6 hours!”

Everyone has been so incredibly supportive of Tina and her recovery. EY San Diego sent her a rare science teddy bear, the Jabbawockeez even paid her a special visit in her room, the spokesperson adds.

So what are the next steps for Tina and her recovery? The spokesperson wrote, “The doctors have been talking about Tina’s next steps and are discussing other hospitals that will have all the specialists she’ll need…”

They continued by writing, “Tina’s Neurosurgeon here at Sunrise is making sure that the facility Tina will be at next meets all the requirements she will need, both short term and long term…”

The GoFundMe campaign as of Sunday morning had raised nearly $540,000 which far surpassed its goal of $50,000, according to ABC.

According to ABC News, Frost’s high school friends also held a separate fundraiser for her in Maryland on Saturday. It’s amazing to see the love and support Tina is receiving and happy to see she is on her way to recovery.
