Christina Aguilera has been in the limelight for more than 20 years now, first shocking the world with her dance moves in the ‘Genie in A Bottle’ video and then following that up with 18 Grammys, selling more than 50 million records, becoming a reality television personality and then giving birth to her two kids. While she has remained in mainstream media as a judge on The Voice, Christina recently shocked the world again with her photoshoot for Paper Magazine.
While most front covers are dolled up supermodels ready to strut it on the runway, Christina opted for a rather drastic approach. She decided to do a photoshoot with the magazine with no makeup and just exposing her natural look and embracing her own skin and body.
In an interview with Paper, the 37-year-old mother of two said: ‘I’ve always been someone that obviously loves to experiment, loves theatrics, loves to create a storyline and play a character in a video or through stage. I’m a performer, that’s who I am by nature. But I’m at the place, even musically, where it’s a liberating feeling to be able to strip it all back and appreciate who you are and your raw beauty.’
So whether it’s in her art or in her appearance, Christina has reached a point in her life where her goal is to embrace yourself and to love who you are as a person. To be proud of who you are and to dedicate your life journey to finding yourself as oppose to pleasing others. Since then, the pop star has used her platform to help the LGBTQ community. As reported by Paper Magazine, it was back in 2003 when Christina received the GLAAD Media Award for her portrayal of gay and transgender people in the ‘Beautiful’ music video.
And the mother of two hopes to be a steady and consistent role model for her daughter. In the interview with Paper Magazine, Christina said: ‘I don’t want to inject too much upon her as to how I’m choosing to live my life and what I’ve done in my career. I just hope I can allow what I’m doing to influence her to be her own person. That’s truly what I hope for her. I really want to make sure my children are both very confident in the sense that they know who they are and that they won’t be easily swayed by outside opinion.’
As reported by CNN Entertainment, Christina said: ‘be fearless in breaking new boundaries and don’t be afraid to go against the grain of criticism along the way. There’s always gonna be those trolls out there or people that have their own definition and ideals of beauty.’
While many fans were aware of Christina’s dashing good looks, many were unaware that the pop star had a set of freckles that she kept hidden. And many of her fans were quick to point out her natural beauty. One follower tweeted: ‘I avoided as much news as I could this week and the only thing I learned is that Christina Aguilera has freckles,’ while another person wrote: ‘if there ever was an advertisement for loving your freckles, Christina Aguilera is it.’
