Hugh Hefner’s Widow And Children Banned From Inheriting His 43 Million Dollar Fortune If They Break This Strict Rule

Hugh Marston Hefner was an American businessman, magazine publisher and most probably the first known ‘playboy.’ He founded and created the Playboy magazine where he was the editor-in-chief since its creation in 1953. Hugh passed away on September 30, 2017 and left behind an estimated 43 million dollars for his family. However, he left a strict rule in his will that would prevent individuals from getting their inheritance.

Hugh’s will stipulated that his widow and children must stay away from drugs in order to claim their share of the fortune.

Furthermore, it must be shown that they are spending the money responsibly in order to continue spending his fortune.

It was shown in Hugh Hefner’s trust documents that any beneficiaries of his wealth who are frequently using illegal substances or become dependent upon alcohol and/or drugs will be suspended from the trust fund.

Some documents, which were obtained by The Blast, show that if a trustee is under the impression that any of the beneficiaries are dependent or regularly consume drugs and/or alcohol, then they are free to suspend them.

The document read: ‘if the Trustees reasonably believe that as a result the beneficiary is unable to care for himself or herself, or is unable to manage his or her financial affairs, all mandatory distributions … to the beneficiary … will be suspended.’

Throughout the years Hugh was known for his wild parties at the Playboy Mansion but sources close to him say that he long believed that drugs and alcohol could hurt and kill people.

The documents went on to show that if a beneficiary was suspended, they can be reinstated so long as they go through a 12 month period of sobriety.

‘[Rights to the trust may be restored] in the case of use or consumption of an illegal substance, examinations indicate no such use for 12 months and, in all cases, when the Trustees in their discretion determine that the beneficiary is able to care for himself or herself and is able to manage his or her financial affairs.’

The former Playboy established the trust back in 1991 and was the only trustee until the time of his death. He also added: ‘any person who claims to be a child of mine, including any child of mine conceived after my death, unless such child lived with me in my household and was acknowledged by me in writing to be my child.’
