Sophie Stevenson is a 24-year-old woman from Manchester who was the victim of a cruel prank. The prank otherwise known as ‘pulling a pig’ was done by 21-year-old Jesse Mateman from Holland. Sophie flew more than 400 miles from Manchester to Amsterdam to see Jesse just to be left stranded at the airport for more than six hours.
She says that all she got was a Snapchat message from him six hours later and then she was promptly blocked from messaging him again.
Jesse denies these allegations.
Sophie says that she met Jesse and his three friends at their hotel when Barcelona was on lockdown after the terrorist attack.
She said that after their time together, the couple decided to stay in contact and even contemplated starting a long-distance relationship.
Sophie was looking forward to seeing Jesse in his home country of Holland but was instead met with a cruel message. The message, which came 6 hours after she had landed, informed her that she had been ‘pigged.’ Sophie explains: ‘pulling a pig is where a guy tries to pull the fat, ugly girl. I felt sick.’
Sophie’s mother said: ‘he would call her every day and Sophie was so excited and would go off and take the call.’
Her mother continued: ‘Sophie said as she was getting on the plane he was calling her and telling her he couldn’t wait to meet her at the hotel. It just shows you the lengths he was going to to make a fool of my daughter.’
Sophie said that she flew 400 miles and spent over 350 pounds to see Jesse. But Jesse has denied these claims through his lawyer.
‘After Barcelona, I did not have any telephone contact with her. The messages contained in those tabloids are either made by Sophie or by the newspapers because I did not send them. ‘
‘In fact, I wonder if Sophie has been at Schiphol at all. I have no idea.’ However, during an interview with The Sun, Sophie said that she was so devastated that she changed her flights and left for home the next morning.
