Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to be married on May 19 of 2018. They are expected to be wed at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England, which is said to be a favourite venue of the Queen.
But with Christmas and New Year’s just passed, one must wonder what the former ‘Suits’ actress got for her royal in-laws.
Despite owning and having almost everything they want, the royal family was apparently very happy with their gifts.
Meghan has been breaking royal traditions ever since the announcement of her engagement with Prince Harry and it seems like her choices of gifts were no different.
The Royal family has a longstanding custom where they exchange ‘cheeky gifts’ instead of expensive items. It has been reported that the royal family has exchanged such gifts as shower caps and also a ‘white leather toilet seat’ which Prince Charles still travels with to this day.
For her future brother-in-law, Meghan got him a Tam O’Shanter hat which is a subtle joke that pokes fun at William’s potential as the future King of England.
The hat, which is a Scottish headpiece, comes with a tartan hat that has ginger hair poking out of its sides. A source close to the royal family said: ‘she bought William a Scottish cap with ginger hair. It was very funny – he saw the funny side too thankfully.’
And for Meghan’s 91-year-old grandmother-in-law, she got her a singing toy hamster. And apparently, the Queen was a big fan of her gift.
‘Meghan bought a little hamster that sings with a little rope for Her Majesty. It was so funny, especially when the corgis tried to take hold of the toy. She laughed and said ‘they can keep my dogs company.’’
Meghan has spent Christmas with the entire royal family at the Sandringham House which is the Queen’s private estate in Norfolk. Most fiancees are not granted the opportunity to spend festive holidays with the royal family until after they are married but it seems like Meghan was the exception.
It was on Tuesday when Prince Harry and his fiancee went for their second public outing after their engagement announcement. The pair visited a London radio station and walked through the crowds hand-in-hand.
