It’s no secret that suffering from cancer not only changes the patient’s life but everyone around them. According to statistics, 1 in 8 women will suffer from breast cancer in their lifetime. In 2017, about 252,710 cases of breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women. Also, 1 in 31 women will die from breast cancer. It’s a tragic event and can cause many women to start thinking about unfinished things. With that said, there is a story where a breast cancer patient weds in a hospital hours before she dies.

When someone knows that their life is coming to an end, they start to put things into perspective. If they love someone who they are supposed to marry, they might not want to leave this world without that happening. Ensuring that a dying patient passes away happy is the main priority not only for the hospital, but for all the loved ones around the patient.

Heather Mosher, who is 31-years-old, was fighting breast cancer since December, 2016. Heather was diagnosed with breast cancer December 23, 2016. That was the same day that her boyfriend at the time David Mosher was planning on proposing to her.

David was put in a tough situation, his future wife had just been told some terrible news, and so would it be the right time to ask her? David decided to go through with his proposal anyway. According to WFSB-TV, he wanted Heather to know that she was not going down this tough road alone.

Unfortunately the tough road Heather was going down was getting tougher. Surgeries and chemotherapy were not helping, and the cancer became aggressive and spread throughout her body. It got to the point where Heather had to be put on a ventilator.

Heather and David set a date to get married on December 30 2017. Unfortunately doctors began to realize that Heather may not have that much time, so they suggested the couple set an earlier date.

Because Heather was hooked up to a ventilator, she was unable to leave the hospital. In order to make her special day possible, Heather’s friends and family worked together to get he into her wedding gown and wig.

The wedding took place at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford on December 22, 2017. Heather looked beautiful in her wedding dress as her family and friends watched her and David say “I do” to each other.

David told ABC news that the whole event was surreal. He mentioned that he was supposed to be saying his wedding vows, but instead was saying goodbye to the woman he loves. Eighteen hours after the wedding took place Heather passed away.

Heather Mosher chose to spend her last ours in this world surrounded by her loved ones. Instead of wasting her last hours in anger, she decided to enjoy it and fill her body with happiness. Her funeral was held on the day her and David were originally going to get married.
