Matt Lauer Caught On Video Telling Meredith Vieira, ‘Keep Bending Over, Nice View’

Former Today host Matt Lauer is just another name in a series of Hollywood predatory characters whose actions are being called into question in what many are calling a ‘watershed moment.’ This all began when the New York Times originally published an article about Harvey Weinstein’s sexual allegations in the industry. The article has started a movement and culture of confession as many celebrities’ actions are coming out of the woodwork.

Matt Lauer, the co-host of The Today Show since 1997, was a regular contributor to Dateline NBC. His case is just the latest on this list of celebrity scandals. Following a series of allegations of sexual harassment, NBC officials decided to terminate Lauer’s employment, after a “detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.” The New York Times and Variety Magazine conducted investigations into Lauer’s behavior which may have lead to the termination by NBC before the investigations could imply that NBC officials knew of Lauer’s behavior. An NBC official said that they believed the complaint of Lauer (although the first in his 20 years at NBC) was not, in fact, an isolated incident, which was the reasoning why they terminated his contract.

Now a video has surfaced from 2009 of Matt Lauer making lewd comments to his Today co-star Meredith Vieira. As the two prep for a taping of the morning program, Lauer leans over to comment to Meredith “keep bending over like that it’s a nice view.”  Lauer, who remarked on these latest allegations that resulted in the premature termination of his employment, said: “there’s enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed.”

Lauer’s wife is reported to have left the country after these reports have come forward. No doubt a result of the fallout Matt Lauer is receiving for his behavior. According to the investigation by Variety, Lauer had a button fixed to his desk that allowed him to lock the door to his office remotely without having to get up. Now, The Today Show and CBS This Morning are currently featuring an all-women host line up after this scandal has played out.
