In fact, a study involving 74 volunteers that was conducted at the University of Georgia found that daily ginger supplementation reduced exercise-induced pain by 25%.

Cold Relief: Medical News Today explains that drinking ginger tea when you have a cold or the flu is beneficial. Ginger tea is a diaphoretic, which means that it promotes the body to sweat, which can help keep the body warm.

Eases Menstrual Pain: For all you women who are constantly struggling with your menstrual pain, ginger may be the answer. According to a study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, ginger was just as effective in reducing menstrual pain as ibuprofen and mefenamic acid. Another study that is published in Bio Med Central also found that ginger was able to decrease the intensity duration of the menstrual pain.

Risks: Just like any other herb or supplement, you always need to know the risks it can cause before you consume it. Healthine states that side effects of ginger are extremely rare, but can include heartburn, upset stomach, burning of the mouth and indigestion. They also state that it’s not a good idea to consume more than four grams of ginger a day.
