New Theory About Jaime, Cersei, And Tyrion Could Change Everything On ‘Game Of Thrones’

Game of Thrones fan theories are wild, my friends. If you’re a part of the fandom, or even if you’re just a casual fan, chances are you’ve heard some pretty wacky stuff. One of the biggest fan theory speculations swirls around Azor Ahai, a legendary figure in the faith of R’hllor, the Lord of Light.

According to A Song Of Ice and Fire (ASOIAF) lore, Azor Ahai forged a sword called the Lightbringer which he used to defeat the darkness of the Great Other–the god of darkness and his children (the White Walkers).

Azor had three tries to forge the sword, the first in which it shattered once cooled with water, another in which he thrust it into a lion, and the final when he thrust it into his greatest love, Nissa Nissa, trapping her soul inside the blade and making it a mythical weapon. The prophecy claims that he will be reborn as The Prince That Was Promised.

So, now that we’ve got the background story out of the way, the new theory according to Reddit fan Poseidon waves is that Jaime Lannister is the reborn Azor Ahai and he will defeat the Night King, putting an end to the long night.

The theory states that Jaime and Cersei are actually Targaryens, their real father being King Aerys aka the Mad King.

If Jaime is the Prince That Was Promised, then Tyrion would represent the lion (as he is a Lannister after all) and Cersei would represent Nissa Nissa.

From there it’s possible that Jaime will be the one to defeat the White Walkers once again with Lightbringer.

Now, despite this being a cool theory, there really isn’t much to it that can be backed up right now, and if one pays close enough attention to the show or the novels then they might realize that Daenerys is more likely to be Azor reborn.

Though the prophecy calls for Azor to become The Prince That Was Promised, George R.R. Martin has always enjoyed flipping things on their head and that promised prince just winds up being a promised princess.

After all, Melisandre has stated, “When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone. The bleeding star has come and gone, and Dragonstone is the place of smoke and salt. Stannis Baratheon is Azor Ahai reborn!”

But unbeknownst to Melisandre, Daenerys was born on Dragonstone and has literally hatched dragons out of stone in a miraculous ritual under the red comet. Based on Melisandre’s own words and beliefs, Daenerys seems to be Azor Ahai reborn if foreshadowing is anything to go by but only time will really tell!
