Girls Think Cashier Is ‘Moana’ Character, And He Has The Best Response

Imagine being a kid, going grocery shopping with your parents and seeing someone who looks exactly like a character from your favourite Disney movie. That’s exactly what happened to two little girls from Hawaii who saw someone who looked like the real-life version of a character from the hit Disney film Moana.

In fact, I can say that they found the real-life version of Maui, one of the main characters in the film. Turns out, in his spare time, Maui enjoys working at Costco. He’s a cashier and goes by the name William Va’ana. The resemblance is uncanny.

If you happen to live under a rock and have never heard of the film “Moana”, it’s probably the most popular film amongst kids and even adults today. It’s about a girl who goes out to sea to restore the heart of Te Fiti, an island that was destroyed because of Maui, who is a demigod. Maui isn’t a bad guy, just a guy who messed up.

The character is voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the movie and kids love him. When you look at William, you can’t help but notice the striking resemblance. It turns out eight-year-old Ryley and her sister five-year-old Rylyn thought so, too. The girls were out shopping with their mom when one of them saw William at the cash register and insisted that he must be Maui. Then the younger sister started yelling Maui’s name and eventually gets William’s attention.

Girls Think Cashier Is 'Moana' Character, And He Has The Best ResponseYOUTUBE

Honestly, I can’t blame these girls for getting really excited. I’d probably react the exact same way if I knew I was about to meet one of the main characters from Moana. So how exactly is this cashier to react to two little girls in complete awe, believing they are meeting their favourite character? Well, he actually had the best possible reaction.

Lucky for us all, the reaction was recorded! The girls’ mother took out her cellphone and recorded both the encounter and William’s response to the girls, which is now being shared around social media. In the video, William asks who the girls think he is. When they respond in the most exciting way possible, he invites them over to his side of the cash register for basically a quick meet-and-greet.

Apparently, this isn’t the first time that William is mistaken for Maui. But he always plays along because he knows it makes the kid’s day. He responds with the character’s famous chant “chee-hoo”, and it puts a smile on their faces. Check out the video below, it’ll surely warm your heart. Not going to lie, William is pretty good at doing the chant…it’s impressive!
