Saeed Ahmad is the man who crashed his car into a concrete barrier and hailed a cab as his female friend was being burned to death in the passenger’s seat. Video footage reveals Saeed leaving the flame-engulfed car along the Gowanus Expressway and leaving his female passenger to die as he hails a cab.
Saeed took the taxi to Maimonides Hospital in Borough Park in order to get treated for his burns as the passenger was dying.
He has since been arrested on charges of criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and speeding.
The Brooklyn man lost control of his 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan as he was heading westbound near Centre Street in Red Hook. The car burst into flames when it struck a concrete barrier.
Saeed had a suspended license at the time. The charred body of Harleen Grewel, 25 and from Astoria, Queens, was found in the front passenger seat at 4 am after the fires were fully extinguished.
Now, the man’s father has spoken out about his son’s truly abominable behaviour.
Mohammad Azam, who is the father of Saeed, said: ‘I don’t know what happened yet, I need to see him, talk to him, find out what happened.’
During the interview with Daily News, the father said: ‘he comes home late and leaves with friends. I ask where he’s going, he doesn’t like me bothering him.’
Mohammad said that his son was dating Harleen but other friends say that he was simply giving her a ride home.
Harleen’s boyfriend, Karan Singh Dhillon, in an interview has said that his girlfriend was a selfless soul. ‘She would do anything for people. She would give someone the clothes off her back. She would give someone food and go hungry.’
It is unclear at this time whether or not Saeed has a lawyer.
