Trump Takes Another Awkward Sip Of Water During D.C. Speech

Much like everything he does, Donald Trump drinking water has made national headlines. He’s thirsty, and figures that drinking some water will quench that thirst. That’s fair, but why does he hold bottles and cups like this? It’s a question that has kept us up at night, just like the now infamous ‘covfefe’ once did. Since this is not the first time, we can now officially confirm that Donald Trump holds water awkwardly:

Just this past Monday, Trump was revealing his new national security strategy in Washington in front of military service members. When suddenly, he took another awkward sip of water, this time using two hands to hold his glass. Right before he reached for the water, he was saying: “On January 20, 2017, I stood on the steps of the capital to herald the day the people became rulers of their nation again.”

Of course, as most people know, this was not the first time Trump holds water awkwardly. We are all aware of the November incident, in which he grabbed a bottle of Fiji water and sipped it awkwardly while cameras flashed around him during a press conference at the White House.

So why exactly is this such a big deal? Well, let us take you back to 2013 when Senator Marco Rubio took an awkward sip of water during his State of the Union address. Trump really had a problem with the method by which Rubio decided to drink water. At the time, he tweeted, “Next time Marco Rubio should drink water from a glass as opposed to a bottle – would have much less negative impact.”

Of course, as we all know, social media lets nothing die:

Becky Connell wasn’t the only one who had something to say about Trump drinking water. The reactions to Trump drinking water sprung up left, right, and center. And boy did people have some shade to throw.

Here’s another guess as to why Trump holds water awkwardly by Twitter user Bruce Dugan (@bduganjr): “He has small hands so he has to use both to hold it like a toddler?”

So as you can see, the reaction to Trump drinking water ranged from perplexed to angry. We don’t blame people for wanting to solve the water mystery. But I guess we’ll just have to wait till the next press conference to see if we can identify a pattern.
