Tennis champion and legend Serena Williams recently embarked on another legendary journey…motherhood! On September 1st, her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. was born. She is named after her father, Alexis Ohanian, Reddit cofounder and Serena’s fiancé.
On her Instagram and Snapchat accounts, Serena Williams shared some first looks at their daughter, noting to everyone that there were ‘many complications during childbirth. Although she didn’t go into detail about those complications, her hospital stay was extended longer than normal.
Showing off just how amazing and powerful of an athlete she is, Serena Williams managed to win her 23rd grand slam at the Australian Open while in her first few months of pregnancy.
In the first photo, Serena and her new daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. can be seen resting together after what was likely a gruelling time at the hospital.
In her Snapchat video, Serena shows the world how beautiful her new daughter is, a video that would later be shared by her husband on Reddit and YouTube.

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian apparently met at a lunch during Serena’s tennis match in Rome. It would be a lunch that a year later would lead to a proposal. Alexis Ohanian is the co-founder of Reddit and is clearly head-over-heels for his future wife.
Serena shared a heartwarming letter to her mother on Instagram. In addition to sharing her love for her own mother, Serena pointed out similarities between herself with her new baby, noting that Alexis Jr. was strong like her, and even had her athletic legs and arms.
Little Alexis even has her own Instagram account! Serena took no time in making sure her new baby could be marvelled at by all her friends and family.
The grace and strength in her work will no doubt prove that Serena Williams is going to be a great mother as well.
