Donald Trump Says A Baby Born In The Ninth Month “Is Wrong” And “Has To Change”

Another day, another headline, for the President of the United States. Speaking at the 45th annual March For Life this past week, Mr. Trump took the opportunity and revisited his opinion on abortion. This time around, he made a remark that left people questioning and scratching their heads.

“Right now, in a number of states, the laws allow a baby to be born from his or her mother’s womb in the ninth month. It is wrong. It has to change.” said the President, leaving audiences baffled.

It is common knowledge that a full-term pregnancy requires nine months, in which the baby is then conceived from the mother’s womb.  To say that a natural process is “wrong” and “has to change” is something that should perhaps be taken up with God, as Jimmy Kimmel joked about on his late-night talk show.

Having a history of being pro-choice, Trump has been no stranger to voicing his opinion about abortions. After becoming president, he took a strong stance against abortion and proclaimed his thoughts about it on a number of occasions. However, there are some people giving him the benefit of the doubt this time around.

There are those who believe that he in fact meant to say “torn from his or her mother’s womb” which would justify his stance on abortion.

During the 2016 presidential debate with Hillary Clinton, Trump made it clear that he was against abortion by claiming that doctors could “rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby.” This contradicted his earlier statement back in 1999, during an interview with NBC’s Meet The Press, where he supported women’s access to abortion, and even though he “hated the concept of abortion”, he was “very pro-choice.”

Activists, doctors, and women’s health advocates spoke out on the matter, in fact, Dr. Jen Gunter, who has performed many abortions, stated on her blog, “There are no ninth-month abortions. Really. A ninth-month abortion is a unicorn and so it’s ridiculous to even discuss it.” She went on to add, “I have no idea what Trump is talking about” and that she knows “much more about this subject than Donald Trump or any of his advisers can ever hope to know.”

As it has many times before, the words of Donald Trump have sparked an outcry and debate. We can only speculate what it was he exactly intended to say, but nonetheless, it is yet another controversial and unconventional remark from the mouth of the President himself.
