Garnering attention and a dedicated fan base after her incredible performance as Eleven in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, this young teen is handling fame like a seasoned star. Even among her predominantly male costars, this up-and-coming actress has shown she’s capable of holding her own.

The Stranger Things actress has not only displayed an endearing personality off camera but she’s proved to be quite the fashionista, a hilarious talk-show guest, and among her many other talents, the 13-year-old can rap!

But most remarkably, the young actress has used her platform, especially on social media, to spread positivity and essential messages of love, kindness, and acceptance. A message, I believe, every teenager growing up in this age of technology can take from. But in a new interview with Variety magazine, the actress admits she isn’t without her own obstacles; specifically, her health.

Aside from her many talents, incredible fashion sense and a pearl of wisdom and self-awareness beyond her years, this rising starlet admits her life hasn’t always been glamorous – or easy.

MBB told Variety she was born with partial hearing loss in one ear, and after years of doctor visits and tubes, she eventually became deaf in that ear. This only made her more determined to follow her passions, and she told her fans they should never let obstacles, no matter how big or small, deter them either.

The star shared her struggle with personal health issues to encourage other aspiring young performers to push for their dreams. “I just started to sing, and if I sound bad I don’t care because I’m just doing what I love. You don’t have to be good at singing. You don’t have to be good at dancing or acting,” asserted the actress. “If you like to do it if you genuinely enjoy it, then do it. No one should stop you.”
