The Noodles That Are Linked To Chronic Inflammation And Weight Gain

We all like instant noodles. Some of us love it a little more than we should. But can you really blame them? They’re SO easy to make, it goes with just about anything and it’s ready in literally five minutes. You know it’s not that good for you, you know you shouldn’t be eating it…but hey, you are human, you can’t help it. Well, believe it or not, people are starting to get more and more concerned with people’s health.

According to cleanfoodhouse.com, Dr. Braden Kuo decided to place a small camera where he watched what exactly was happening to people’s digestive tract and stomach after they were eating ramen noodles. Ramen noodles are also known as instant noodles. Once you hear what he discovered, you might not enjoy these noodles as much anymore. After you eat your instant noodles and they get to your stomach, Dr. Kuo discovered that these noodles stay completely intact. That itself is a concern for a lot of people.

Not only is your digestive system forced to make a HUGE effort to dissolve these noodles, but the nutrient absorption is also impacted when the food is stuck in the digestive tract for a long time period, according to the site. Moreover, general physician Dr. Sunil Sharma tells food.ndtv.com: “In most cases, monosodium glutamate (MSG), as well as TBHQ (a chemical preservative derived from the petroleum industry), may be present in instant noodles for their taste enhancing and preserving properties”.

The Washington Post also had reported that a South Korean study was conducted on the effect of these noodles on human health. Hyun Shin, a doctoral candidate at Harvard School of Public Health noted that “…though instant noodles is a convenient and delicious food, there could be an increased risk for metabolic syndrome given high sodium, unhealthy saturated fat and glycemic loads”.

Food.ndtv.com also adds that these noodles are made of “maida” which is the bleached version of wheat flour. Maida is so bad for your health because it’s so highly processed. It’s the highly processed flavor that makes it highly addictive. Naturally, that’s why people gain so much weight eating these noodles. Nutritionist Dr. Simran Saini at Fortis Hospital in New Delhi says “Maida-based instant noodles are loaded with preservatives and are nothing but a source of empty calories ripped of all nutrition. Excessive consumption may lead to obesity”.

So it’s pretty clear that instant noodles pose a ton of health issues to your body. Just like a lot of things, too much of anything is never a good thing. However, if you have ramen noodles once in a while because you have no energy to cook, you won’t have sudden health issues. According to expand-your-consciousness.com, Instant noodles are the perfect example of the foods that people should avoid as much as they can.

This is a type of food that is GUARANTEED to make you unhealthy and gain a ton of weight. You are probably wondering how often is too often. Well, depends on the food, but with the instant noodles even having it as little as a couple times a week can be risky. As mentioned, these processed foods can encourage weight gain and chronic disease. So next time you pick up some processed foods…think again!
